Mazinger Vs. Devilman

MAZINGER Z VS. DEVILMAN

STORY:

The movie starts with Dr. Hell sending three robots to attack the Institute. Koji is called and he flies over to get Mazinger. He quickly defeats the three robots but accidently releases the devil Siren. She flies away to her clans ice tomb. On the way she stops to attack a city which Akira is riding by. He sees her, transforms into Devilman and flies after her.

Ashura noticed Siren and informs Dr. Hell. He has heard of the Demon Clan and flies after them in a giant flying base. He arrives shortly after Siren and send a robot to release demons fromt he ice. It manages to release two, Dr. Hell then comes out himself and implants a control chip and Siren and the other two. They begin planning to kill Mazinger and Devilman but they do not notice Devilman listening to what they are saying. He flies away.

He comes accross Mazinger walking back to the Institute. Having turned into a human before this, Akira challenges Koji to a motorbike race which he wins. During it Akira warns Koji of the plot bu does not reveal who he is. He tells Koji that unless Mazinger can fly he will be destroyed. Koji returns to base to see that the Jet Scrander is almost complete. Koji is very happy to which Shio says, "The way you sound you would think Jet Scrander was your girlfriend." Koji answers, "Jet Scrander is better than any girlfriend!" Much apologizing to Sayaka begins.

That night demons attack Jet Scrander and destroy it. Siren takes Sayaka and Shio as prisoners. Devilman manages to save them and returns them to Koji. As he talks to Koji a demon attacks. He knocks Koji out of the way and transforms into Devilman, chasing after the demon. The demon goes to the sea where one of Dr. Hell's robots is waiting. Devilman looks doomed when Mazinger shows up. He destroys the robot, chases away the demon and frees Devilman.

Just as they seem victorious Dr. Hell sends out his army of robots to destroy the Institute. Mazinger rushes to the Institute and does what he does best, destroy everything in sight. Devilman gets captured again. Devilman is about to be executed when Dr. Yumi desides to send out the untested Jet Scrander. Like any good hero, Mazinger takes the Jet Scrander, svaes Devilman, and procedes to opens up a can of whoop-ass on the demons, robots, and Dr. Hell's flying base. In the end, both heroes fly of looking really cool.

OPINION:

This is really a Mazinger episode with Devilman in it. Devilman does very little. In fact, the demons as a whole do very little. It becomes obvious that no demon can take on any robot one on one. In the end, I liked it because of all the attention put on Mazinger. To Devilman fans I'd recommend sticking to the recent videos that have the original Devilman. This one is just a giant robot wanna-be.
